“Reel Music is an immensely useful resource that our students have engaged with right across our UG and PG curricula. The range of content on the platform is one of its strengths, offering insights into different teaching environments and approaches to working with different age groups. The inclusion of short video interviews with headteachers, academics, and teachers helps to contextualise some of the practice in the videos, and gives real-world perspectives on music education in schools. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Reel Music has been particularly useful, providing a glimpse into real-life educational experience at a time when placement opportunities are more limited.”

Dr Adam Whittaker – Head of Pedagogy & Lecturer in Music – Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

“ReelMusic is an important and wide-ranging resource which is of benefit to all those working in music education. In these days when music in schools is under threat in the curriculum it is helpful to see such a variety of thinking and practice. Criticality in music education is vital, and this resource encourages thinking about deep learning practices and important concepts.”
