Update for Existing DSLs on Safeguarding and Child Protection – Thursday 13th October 2022: 13.00 – 16.15


This course for existing Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Deputy DSLs who have previously attended the two-day DSL training course. It will focus on best practice, current issues of concern and the leadership and management aspects of safeguarding. It ensures that existing DSLs and DDSLs meet their statutory obligation to have training updated regularly.

This course will take place online.


The course will cover:• Recent changes to national and local safeguarding documentation, procedures and requirements for record keeping and how to embed these in your organisation• An opportunity to consider the role of the DSL in working with senior leadership and governors, in order to effectively manage safeguarding across the setting and ensuring a consistency of approach• Consideration of how to ensure safeguarding is embedded in your organisation’s culture, including looking at where and how safeguarding features in the curriculum• Up to date information on issues of current concern, including learning lessons from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.
