Project X CODE: Training and Support for Reading

£800.00

Project X Code is a highly motivational series of 3D adventure books which, based on a structured progression of phonics, vocabulary and comprehension skills, aim to maximise impact and progress for pupils in Y2-Y4 who need support with reading.

Project X CODE training ensures effective delivery of the programme to optimise progress in reading and is provided for a nominated Teaching Assistant (or teacher) and a link teacher. Training for teachers enables them to support, manage and evaluate Project X CODE and embed it in an overall strategy to tackle underachievement in reading.

This course costs £800 for both a Teaching Assistant and Link Teacher to attend.

Please note:
In order to guarantee the timely delivery of resources to your school you should place your order at least one week before the intervention start date.

This training course provides targeted use of the Pupil Premium and supports the National Curriculum for English. It will enable teaching assistants, teachers and link teachers to adapt sessions to meet children’s needs and develop their reading subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Participants would usually teach a small group of children for half an hour four times a week. Sessions are based on the books and help the children to overcome difficulties, develop their skills and enjoy reading.

During the Project X Training, participants will develop their:

  • Subject knowledge and effectiveness
  • Overall strategy for tackling underachievement in reading
  • Ability to support children, increasing their confidence and passion for reading

They will receive training and guidance, telephone and email support from an ECC accredited and experienced, school-based trainer. We recommend a standardised reading test to measure impact.
